Brandi Toliver

Senior Academic Program Manager

Dr. Brandi Toliver serves as the Senior Academic Program Manager in the International and Academic Affairs Office (IAAO) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) located in Gaithersburg, MD. In her role at NIST, Dr. Toliver manages the agency’s premier STEM intern program, the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program and the Professional Research Experience Program (PREP). Prior to her appointment at NIST, she worked on a think tank at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and as a Research Chemist for the U.S. Air Force.  Dr. Toliver holds a B.S in chemistry from North Carolina State University, M.S. in chemistry from North Carolina Central University, and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University.

As the first person in her family to obtain a Ph.D., Dr. Toliver has a passion for STEM Outreach. She serves a board member of the NIST Women in STEM (WiSTEM) and the chairperson of the NIST Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day which hosts 400+ children annually.
