Dr. Parr served as chief of the Optical Technology Division for over 15 years and retired in 2007. Division was merged with other NIST elements and is now the Sensor Science Division. His research interests included radiometry, photometry, spectrophotometry and applications of synchrotron radiation to study atomic and molecular photoionization processes.
Dr. Parr is a fellow of the American Physical Society, a member of the SPIE and Optical Society of America and is a fellow of the Washington Academy of Sciences. When working at NIST he was active in the Council for Optical Radiation Measurements and activities of the BIPM related to radiometry and photometry. Dr. Parr received the Department of Commerce Gold and Bronze awards during his career at NIST.
