STATE OF DELAWARE
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR

RUTH ANN MINNER
GOVERNOR

March 2001

National Institute of Standards and Technology
United States Department of Commerce
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899

To the Men and Women of NIST:

I am writing to voice the congratulations and thanks of the people of Delaware on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Since its inception as the National Bureau of Standards in 1901, NIST has brought order into the world of American commerce and helped to build the technical foundations that are so important in our nation today.

As an historical leader in the chemical industry and a growing center of pharmaceutical research and biotechnology, the First State is truly grateful for the services provided by NIST throughout the past century. We look forward to working together for many centuries to come!

Sincerely,

Ruth Ann Minner
Governor
