We demonstrate component-level functionality of the three critical subsystems for a chip-scale atomic clock: the physics package, the local oscillator and the control electronics. In addition, we demonstrate that these three components functioning together achieve a short-term frequency instability below 6x10/√τ, 0 <τ < 100 s, with a total volume below 10 cm and a power dissipation below 200 mW.
