Abstract

Temperature measurement represents one of the most frequently and broadly used measurements, with a majority of products manufactured having temperature measurement devices as an esential component. The accuracy and precision of these temperature measurements affect industrial productivity and safety, international trade and even the quality of life. NIST has had a century-long history of collaboration with National Metrology Institutes worldwide as well as industry and industry groups, to provide temperature measurement tools that are traceable to national standards, improve process design, enhance process yields, and promote the competitiveness of U.S. companies in the global market. This paper outlines the many facets of these collaborations.
