Abstract

This publication contains the proceedings of the 32nd Joint Meeting of the U.S.-Japan Joint Panel on Wind and Seismic Effects. The meeting was held May 16-19, 2000, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland (USA). The proceedings include the program, list of panel members, task committee reports, technical papers, and a summary of the technical site visits that followed the meeting. The papers discuss research conducted by the U.S. and Japan related to the themes of the meeting. The themes of the 32nd Joint Panel Meeting were: Earthquake Engineering; Wind Engineering; Information Technology for Land Management and Natural Disaster Prevention Countermeasures; Public Health; Performance-Based Design Methods; and a Special Topic on natural Disasters in the World and the Lessons Learned.
