Abstract

In-plane cyclic load tests of partially grouted concrete masonry shear walls with bed joint reinforcement are presented. Specimen design and construction, and simulated seismic testing procedures, are summarized. Lateral force resistance mechanisms are discussed in conjunction with observed displacement response. Parameters relating to initial stiffness, shear strength, energy dissipation and deformation capacity are highlighted, and initial stiffness predictions are compared with measurements.
