Abstract

A generalized approach for the expression of measurement uncertainty consistent with current international practice is presented. The approach is applicable to all kinds of quantitative measurements including measurements of thermophysical properties. A brief example for the uncertainty assessment for steady-state thermal transmission properties determined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 1016 mm guarded-hot-plate apparatus is discussed.
