Part-part Relations in an RDF/S and OWL Extension

Published

Author(s)

Abstract

This describes an extension to the Resource Description Framework/Schema (RDF/S) to specify relations between parts of the same whole (composite structure). For example, the relation between engine and wheels in a car applies in each individual car, rather than between parts of different cars or to engines in boats. The extension can be used with other extensions of RDF/S, such as Ontology Web Language (OWL), and augments techniques for representing relations between part and whole. An OWL version of the extension is also provided.
