Hardin

Dr. Gary Hardin

Brief

Gary graduated from Stanford with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in Chemical Engineering, working with Professor Robert Sani. His research was on stability theory applied to fluid dynamics with combined heat and mass transfer, specifically investigating natural convection with associated thermal diffusion (a.k.a. the Soret Effect.) He worked briefly for a doomed aerospace startup in the San Francisco Bay area before being hired at NIST to continue research on stability theory. Over the years, due in part to time commitments to outside interests, Gary wandered away from research and evolved into filling a support role as a programmer.

Gary is ordained as a Zen monk. He has run the Boulder Zen Center for the last 15 years. He also owns a Bed and Breakfast in Boulder.
