MM Manufacturing LLC Certified under the ISO 9001:2015 Standard

About

M&M Manufacturing LLC, is a Puerto Rico corporation located in Lajas, Puerto Rico. It was founded (October 2010) and set as a WOSB company (a woman-owned small business). The company business model started as an apparel sub-contractor for several Federal Contractors (DOD) in Puerto Rico.  Among the main customers are Camelback Products, SNC Manufacturing, Pentaq Inc and Propper International. This relationship experience allowed M&M to directly compete for DOD proposals.  In 2013 the company was awarded its first contract.

The Challenge

The Defense Department requested M& M implement and have in place a formal Quality Management System (QMS). M&M Mfg. realized the need to upgrade its quality system to meet ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Management contacted PRiMEX for assistance assessing and upgrading the Quality System in to the new standard.

I have always recognized that having a good quality system is essential for the proper functioning of a company. Certifying M & M has been one of my goals since the beginning of the company. In 2016 we were already focusing on the processes to achieve this certification.  During the last year, PRIMEX thru Rafael Pagan has helped us in all areas and was with us in each stage until the certification. We are very grateful for the commitment that PRIMEX has with its clients and for being open to share its vast experience in the industry.

— Mrs. Maria Meléndez, MM Manufacturing LLC President

MEP's Role

PRiMEX performed a gap assessment to set the basis and plan for ISO 2001: 2015 implementation.  A formal introduction to ISO 9001:2015 training was provided for key personnel involved with the certification process. Quality policies and manuals were revised to meet the new standard. Updated documents, manufacturing flowcharts and instructions were prepared, and the document control process was amended to comply with the 2015 requirements. All other implementation activities were re-group. Internal audits and Management Review were initiated. Two internal audits were completed.
