This challenge aimed to inspire Americans everywhere in the development of public safety communications technology of tomorrow with a video series on #PSprizes Crowdsourcing Competitions. Watch the videos below!
This four phased challenge sought creative approaches to design a video series that could engage science and technology solvers through unique messaging and videos. PSCR sought submissions from innovators to develop video concepts, pitches, and actual videos that encourage a futuristic and inspirational approach to improving public safety communications technology and help first responders save citizen lives. The driving motivation for these videos was to “excite and inform!” using - live-action, animated, CGI, or a mix thereof – cinematography to effectively engage the audience and communicate the research opportunities at PSCR.
The video series includes 13 total videos
- Two overview videos on the PSCR Open Innovation Accelerator Program
- 10 key area videos focusing on PSCR's key technology areas: Location-Based Services, Public Safety Mission Critical Voice, Pubic Safety Enhanced User Interface, Public Safety Data Analytics, Public Safety Network and Device Security
- A highlight video to recap key areas
The PSCR Innovation Accelerator is spearheading R&D next-generation technology over the next several years and these videos are designed to encourage any person – team, entrepreneur, inventor, or company – to contribute their ideas and help NIST solve public safety technology challenges.
During the Initial Challenge Phase, contestants were asked to submit a video concept that will inspire Americans to help develop the public safety technology of tomorrow. The four winning concept creators each received a $500 prize.
Using these concepts, all contestants were given the opportunity to pitch their vision for the video series. Norman Invasion was awarded a total of $98,000 for their winning vision and videos. With the help of Tongal, Norman Invasion went on to develop all 13 videos in the series. Tongal provided oversight and guidance to assist Norman Invasion in the production of these videos, resulting in a powerful series that will inform and inspire Americans on the demands of public safety technology.
