John Lehman Receives Rabinow Award

Dr. John Lehman is recognized for pioneering research in the field of carbon nanotubes, leading to the world's most versatile detectors for accurate optical power measurements.

Working closely with leading CNT foundries, Dr. Lehman has developed innovative low-temperature methods for growing vertically aligned CNT arrays (VANTAs) on a wide variety of substrates without damage to those substrates. With these VANTA structures, Dr. Lehman has achieved the world's darkest optical detector with near unity absorption over an unprecedented broad wavelength range. Customers for NIST VANTA coatings include academia, other NMIs, as well as private companies.
