NIST Standard Reference Database 14

NIST Mixture Property Database

NOTE: Many of the fluids contained in NIST14 are also available in the REFPROP database. Please see www.nist.gov/srd/nist23.htm for additional details. The REFPROP database is recommended over NIST14 when REFPROP contains the fluids of interest.

Effectively immediately, there will be a minimum $50.00 shipping charge for all international shipments of databases. There will be additional international shipping costs for multiple copies of databases. Customer will be responsible for their own duties, tax, and VAT. Contact 301 975 2008 or data@nist.gov if you have questions.

The NIST Mixture Property Database calculates thermodynamic and transport properties of mixtures of fluids selected from any of 17 possible pure components. The emphasis of the database is on density prediction (especially for CO2-rich mixtures), but for other properties and mixtures are also accurate.

All phase equilibrium calculations are performed with the Peng-Robinson equation of state, and coexisting phase properties are calculated with the NIST extended corresponding states model.

Mixtures formed from any of 17 pure components (including hydrocarbons, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide) are handled by the database.

NIST14 provides the following properties for any specified mixture:

  • bubble point pressure and temperature
  • dew point pressure and temperature
  • saturation properties
  • tables of density, enthalpy, entropy, and heat capacity as functions of T or P
  • isothermal flash calculation yielding density, enthalpy, entropy, heat capacity, viscosity, and thermal conductivity of feed and vapor

You may browse the Users' Guide to see how this database works.

Hardware Requirements: PC with Microsoft® Windows® 2000; MS-DOS; 350 KB disk space; 256K RAM; math coprocessor.
