Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Ceremony

Mr. Vice President. Mr. Secretary. Dr. Hertz. Fellow Baldrige Award recipients. Ladies and Gentlemen.

I wish to thank everyone in the Baldrige organization, NIST and ASQ for this recognition of Park Place Lexus. And a special word of thanks to the Board of Examiners.

Most of all, I want to thank the people who earned the award, those who are here and those watching at home by satellite.

Team, what a great day!

Park Place Lexus is the first and only automobile dealership to receive the Baldrige Award.

We set out to prove that a "car dealer," and you know what I mean, can be run just as well, and can be just as great a place to work, as any other corporation in America.

We established a new standard for our industry because we were driven to create the best possible client experience. And how did we organize our work to bring out the best in everyone? That was the only easy part. We took the path laid down by the Baldrige Criteria.

Through good years and tough years, we earned our reputation as "Experts in Excellence." We even gave ourselves the audacious goal of becoming the country's best retail automotive group.

We have come a long way, but we have only begun. I truly believe that our best years are ahead of us.

I want to close with a word for our clients: receiving this award will just make us work harder than ever for the people we serve.

For our industry, we hope our journey paves the way for others to choose the Baldrige formula for success.

One thing is certain: our Park Place Lexus team is mighty proud today. From all of us, thank you.
