Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Ceremony
April 19, 2006

Remarks by Robert E. McGough
Chief Executive Officer/President
DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Company

Vice President Cheney, Secretary Gutierrez, members of the Baldrige Family, distinguished guests and fellow recipients; it is with great pride that I accept this award on behalf of DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Company. We are here today because of the commitment and dedication to Performance Excellence by the employees of DynMcDermott and support from the Department of Energy and DynMcDermott's shareholder companies; Computer Science Corporation, McDermott International, Jacobs Engineering and International Matex Tank Terminals.

I would like to take a moment to recognize several individuals who are in attendance today:

Chuck Tolleson of DynMcDermott who led our quest for excellence.

Assistant Secretary of Energy for Fossil Energy John Shages and Mr. Hoot Gibson, DOE Project Manager for the SPR in New Orleans who supported our efforts.

Mr. Donald Craigie of Computer Sciences Corporation and Mr. Jamie Coleman President of IMTT.

All the employees of DynMcDermott both here and at home, my wife Paula and son Matthew who are in attendance today.

We work hard at performance improvement, always looking ahead, finding and overcoming the next challenge. The Baldrige culture is DM's culture.

DMs superb performance during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita is but one example of our can do attitude.

Our employees responded to our call at great personal expense to themselves, giving unselfishly even though many lost their homes and all their worldly possessions. Within 72 hours of Katrina striking the Gulf Coast, 100 percent of our employees called in and asked only "when and where do I report for work".

Let me close by congratulating the other recipients and thanking the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and all those who bestowed this great honor on DM, the SPR and the great states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. God Bless America.
