NIST SIGMA XI POSTDOCTORAL POSTER PRESENTATION: A TEMPLATE FOR ABSTRACTS THAT INCLUDE SYMBOLS FOR ELEMENTS SUCH AS Au OR Co IN THE TITLE
Reginald Presentingpostdoc, David Seniorscientist, Rachel Othereligiblepostdoc, and Kimberley Projectleader
Thank you for consulting this abstract template. Submissions for the Sigma Xi Postdoctoral Poster Presentation (PPP) should look much like this. Abstracts should be submitted as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), text, (.txt) rich text (.rtf), or html (.html or .htm) file. The title should be in all-caps centered on the first line, as shown above. Note that there are exceptions to the all-caps rule; for example, we wouldnít want to confuse readers as to whether your research was on the properties of cobalt or carbon monoxide. Thus, for chemical symbols, term symbols, phase notations, and other similar instances, please use the case that conveys the correct meaning in your title.
The title should be followed by the full authorsí names starting on the second line. Underline all authors who are Postdoctoral Fellows and/or eligible Guest Researchers. As you can see above, two postdocs worked on this project, so both the presenting postdoc and his nonpresenting colleague are underlined.
The abstract text should follow and should be limited to one page. Please do not feel as if you must fill a complete page to participate; simply make sure that you have concisely described the work you plan to present to your NIST colleagues. A justified single page in a 12-point font with 1-inch margins should be more than enough to accomplish this task.
The second page should include the presenting authorís information so we can more easily contact you if there are any questions.† Finally, the author must choose the topic category that best classifies their poster: Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Mathematical Modelling, Physics, or Polymer Science. Please see below for an example of this. Submit your one-page poster abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org. This template for properly formatted poster abstracts, as well as submissions from previous years, can be found at www.nist.gov/sigmaxi. Please note that the poster topic can cover oneís doctoral research if a participant has not been at NIST long enough to have completed sufficient postdoctoral research for a poster.
All participating Postdoctoral Fellows and Guest Researchers are also invited to a special reception on Friday, February 20th, 2015 in the Portrait Room, where awards for the most outstanding posters will be announced. Thank you for your submission to the Sigma Xi PPP. We look forward to seeing you at the poster session.
