ABSTRACT
A novel ultra_thin film of C60 assisted pyridine
di_n_octadecyldithiophosphate (PyDDP) was prepared using Langmuir_Blodgett
(LB) technique. The p_A isotherm exhibits that the cross_sectional area
per molecule for C60/PyDDP LB film is less than that
for pure C60, which is consistent with arachidic-acid/C60 LB film. The results of frictional experiments indicats
that the durability of C60/PyDDP LB films is better
than that of both C60 LB film and PyDDP LB film. On
these bases, a model was suggested that the fullerenes may have unique lubricating
properties when they are localized on the solid surface.
