The NIST Chapter of Sigma Xi invites all Postdoctoral Fellows to present a poster on their scientific research to their NIST colleagues. Guest Researchers who have received their advanced degree in the last five years are also welcome to participate. The twentieth annual NIST Sigma Xi Postdoctoral Poster Presentation (PPP) will take place on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 in Lecture Rooms A and B and in the adjoining hallway in the Administration Building (Building 101). There will be two sessions Session I from 9 am until noon and Session II from 1 pm until 4 pm. Refreshments will be provided during both sessions.


To participate, please register according to the directions on the Sigma Xi – NIST Chapter web page ( Participants should complete the registration form (.docx or .htm) found there and submit it along with a one-page poster abstract to Abstracts should be submitted as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), text, (.txt) rich text (.rtf), or html (.html or .htm) file. The title should be in all-caps centered on the first line, followed by the full authors’ names starting on the second line. Underline all authors who are Postdoctoral Fellows and/or eligible Guest Researchers. The abstract text should follow and should be limited to one page. The presenting author’s information, including name and Sigma Xi membership status, advisor’s name, Division, Laboratory, NIST building and office number, mail stop, telephone number, email address, and category of postdoctoral fellow (such as NRC, NIST/NIH, Guest Researcher, etc.) should follow the abstract text. Finally, the author must choose the topic category that best classifies their poster: Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Polymer Science. Templates for properly formatted abstracts, as well as submissions from previous years, can be found at Please note that the poster topic can cover one’s doctoral research if a participant has not been at NIST long enough to have completed sufficient postdoctoral research for a poster. All participating Postdoctoral Fellows and Guest Researchers are also invited to a special reception on Friday, March 1st, 2013 in the Heritage Room, where awards for the most outstanding posters will be announced.


THE DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS IS TUESDAY, JANUARY 15th, 2013. Posters in each session will be numbered according to the time of their receipt. Space is limited, so please sign up early.
