|NISTís new Integrating Sphere used for accelerated ultraviolet weatherability testing of coatings, plastics, textiles and fiber-reinforced polymeric composites. The sphere was created to implement materials testing planned by the industry/government Coatings Service Life Prediction Consortium.||Ned Embree (left), senior technician, and Dr. Joannie Chin, materials research engineer, both of the Building Materials Division of the NISTís Building and Fire Research Laboratory, hold a specimen container up against an Integrating Sphere port. Dr. Chin is one of the inventors of the accelerated ultraviolet weatherability testing device.|
