a The FY 2008 amount for Scientific and Technical Research and Services appropriations includes $893,000 in congressionally directed projects. The FY 2008 amount for Construction of Research Facilities appropriations includes $51.3 million in congressionally directed projects and $30 million for a competitive construction grant program.

b The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) amount for Construction of Research Facilities includes $180 million for a competitive construction grant program for research science buildings.
