Communications Investing in infrastructure.

Optical fibers, wave guides, cellular phone towers, high-definition television (HDTV) transmission standards—these are the roads and bridges of communications. Just as people need a common language to talk with one another, communications technologies need standards and common practices to exchange information.

NIST research, services, and co-funding of industry R&D projects help the U.S. communications industry achieve rapid development of new technologies and efficient operations.
