Food
processing companies use NIST Standard Reference Materials
(SRMs) to accurately adjust the instruments used for
measuring the concentration of components like proteins,
carbohydrates, fat, and vitamins. SRMs also help manufacturers
and regulators measure toxins such as PCBs or mercury
to ensure the food supply is safe.
