A three-year project co-funded by NIST's Advanced Technology Program and the Auto Body Consortium produced new manufacturing technologies and practices that substantially improved the fit of auto body parts. ABC members include four small and four medium-sized manufacturers that supply assembly processes to the auto industry. The project was conducted in collaboration with General Motors, Chrysler, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University.
