| This colorized scanning electron micrograph shows a suspended microheater measuring about 4 micrometers across. Arrays of microheaters are used to test and calibrate infrared cameras and other imaging systems. NIST researchers are developing test structures to help optimize the design and fabrication of such microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices. |
