| NIST fire researchers develop computer models to simulate changes in temperature and air flow for fires of different sizes and in buildings with different structural geometries. The graphic aboves shows the temperature profile emanating from a fire source, where red represents the highest temperatures followed by yellow, green, light blue, and dark blue. Fire models like this one are used by designers to plan more fire safe facilities. |
