Better Quality Control and Training

Ferro-Ceramics Photo by Thomas Radcliffe
Ferro-Ceramics has continually invested resources in quality improvements and training to ensure the professional growth of their employees and the competitiveness of the company. The company machines, grinds, and cuts high alumna ceramics, ferrites, quartz and other hard materials to exceedingly close tolerances to meet customer specific needs and requirements. Ferro Ceramics has designed and produced special machinery for cutting ceramics to produce the burr-free chips and substrates that their customers require. The 15-person company grinds these ceramics materials for use in a variety of mechanical, electronic, medical and nuclear applications. Working with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Partnership to implement a quality control process and a new local area network, the company has already realized a $304,000 increase in sales. Through a Statistical Process Control training project, Ferro Ceramics has also seen a production increase of 15%, a scrap rate reduction of 40% and a re-work reduction of 25%.
