March 10-12, 2009
Sponsors:
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Time and Frequency Division; the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Standards (ATIS) OPTXS standards committee (OPTXS acronym does not spell out to anything); National Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSL) International; and the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Communications Society (COMSOC).
Audience:
The workshop is designed for all levels of communications professionals interested in synchronization issues, from beginners in the field to experts wanting to keep current with emerging technologies.
Format:
Workshop.
Purpose/Course Description:
Timing and Synchronization in Packet Networks
As Deployment Begins, What is Working, What is Not?
The telecom/datacom core is shifting from synchronous to asynchronous. And promising new methods of providing sync for applications have been developed into standards. Yet, problems remain that are preventing the Next-Generation Network from reaching its potential. Explore these issues at the NIST-ATIS-NCSLI-IEEE Workshop on Synchronization in Telecommunications Systems (WSTS) 2009. WSTS provides a forum for high-level discussion and knowledge sharing with the experts on sync. The goal is to provide the groundwork for collaboration and creating the solutions that will drive the success of the NGN.

What is the critical interplay between new applications and new synchronization? As Deployment Begins, What is Working, What is Not? How are the international sync standards evolving to support highly demanded apps? Learn what is happening and have an impact on this evolution. Come to this interactive Workshop in Colorado, March 10-12, 2009, the NIST-ATIS-NCSLI-IEEE WSTS'09.
