Applications of Pairing-Based Cryptography:
Identity-Based Encryption and Beyond

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
100 Bureau Drive
Administration Building
Green Auditorium
Gaithersburg, MD 20899

June 3-4, 2008
Sponsors:
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Audience:
Security researchers from academia and industry.
Format:
Workshop.
Purpose:
To brings together academia, government and industry to explore innovative and practical applications of pairing-based cryptography. Pairings have been used to create identity-based encryption schemes, but are also a useful tool for solving other cryptographic problems. We hope to encourage the development of new security applications and communication between researchers, developers and users. In addition to presentations, the workshop will facilitate panel discussions among invited experts and workshop participants.
Topics:

NIST solicits presentations, panel proposals and participation from all interested parties, including researchers, system architects, vendors, and users. Suggested topics for submissions in applications of pairing-based cryptography include:

  • Internet and web security
  • Voting schemes
  • Health care
  • Access control schemes
  • IBE trust model
  • Integration of PKGs with PKI
  • Searching and processing encrypted data
  • Broadcast systems
  • Novel security applications

NIST will post the accepted presentations on the workshop web site and include them in a workshop handout, however will not publish a formal workshop proceedings. NIST encourages presentations on work that may be published elsewhere.
