Scientists, engineers, and technicians who need to make reliable temperature measurements using radiation thermometers.
Format:
Lectures, hands-on laboratory exercises.
Purpose:
To help attendees learn the fundamentals of radiometric physics and instrumentation associated with determining temperature from observations of thermal radiation from materials; to provide experience in performing radiometric analyses to internalize key concepts and to serve as preparatory work for the experiments.

Failure to provide this information prior to arrival on the site will result, as a minimum, in significant delays (up to 24 hours) in entering the facility. Authority to gather this information is derived from United States Department of Commerce Department Administrative Order (DAO) number 207-12.

This short course is limited to 15 attendees on a first come, first served basis.

Accommodations:

A block of rooms has been reserved for the nights of June 1-5, 2008 at the Spring Hill Suites Gaithersburg. The special rate is $179.00 per night plus 12% tax. Please contact the hotel directly at 301/987-0900. To make your reservation, mention that you are attending the "NIST/ Radiation Thermometry Short Course". Reservations should be made early to ensure the NIST group rate. Requests received after May 12, 2008 will be filled on a space available basis.
