ITS-90 FIXED-POINT CELL MINI-WORKSHOP

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
100 Bureau Drive
Building 221, Room B05
Gaithersburg, MD
20899

December 3-4, 2007
Sponsors:
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Thermometry Group.
Audience:
The workshop is intended for calibration laboratory personnel who are familiar with using SPRTs and/or have taken the NIST Precision Thermometry Workshop.
Format:
Laboratory (85%) and lecture (15%) - max. of 4 participants.
Purpose:
To provide intensive "hands-on" laboratory training in the realization of ITS-90 fixed-point cells and the calibration of standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs). Additionally, part of the course will focus on the development of uncertainty statements for the fixed-point cells and subsequently SPRT calibrations.
Topics:
How to calibrate SPRTs using the ITS-90 fixed-point cells of the water triple point, gallium melting point, tin freezing point, mercury triple-point, and the zinc freezing-point. How to determine the realization uncertainty of your ITS-90 fixed-point cells. A round-table discussion will be held at the end of the workshop to address any individual concerns.
