Event: The media is invited to share a very special "Take
Our Daughters to Work Day" with local girls, ages 9-16, as they
get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of some of the exciting research
careers at the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards
and Technology.
For media outlets planning to do a story on TODTWD, the NIST event
offers a unique science and technology angle with plenty of audiovisual
possibilities for print, radio or TV.

Reporters may attend any two of the following demos: glassblowing;
polymers (participants will make nylon); chemistry (participants
will make gel); high-speed machining; properties of different concrete
mixes; DNA diagnostics; measuring force; 3-D computer visualization;
or chemical analysis by spectroscopy.

Directions: From points south, take I-270 North to Exit
10 (Rt. 117 West, Clopper Rd.). Exit under highway and turn left
at first traffic light (Bureau Dr.). Pass the guard house and make
a left at T intersection. Follow the road around to the Administration
Building (101).
From points north, take I-270 South to Exit 11 (Rt. 124, Quince
Orchard). Exit under railroad tracks and turn left at second traffic
light (Clopper Rd.). Turn right at first traffic light (Bureau Dr.).
Pass the guard house and follow same directions as above.
