President Clinton to Present Baldrige Quality Award

| President Clinton will present the 1998 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award to three U.S. companies
for their outstanding achievements in quality and business excellence. The companies are: Boeing
Airlift and Tanker Programs, Long Beach, Calif.; Solar Turbines Inc., San Diego, Calif.;
and Texas Nameplate Co. Inc., Dallas, Texas. Reporters are invited to attend the ceremony as well as to schedule one-on-one interviews with company executives and others.

| Events: | NEW INFO 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. One-on-One Interviews - Reporters can schedule interviews (in 15-minute blocks) during a one-hour period with one or more companies by calling Michael Newman (see above) by 5 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999. NEW INFO 11:10 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Ceremony - The doors to the ceremony will open at 9:45 and close at 10:50. Reporters must check in at the "Media" table, located near the Independence Ballroom A, to be escorted to interviews and into the ceremony. Credentials (news media badge with photo or a photo ID with a business card) must be presented to enter the ceremony.
