Commerce Department to Dedicate NIST Research Laboratory
Most Technically Advanced Laboratory of Its Kind

Commerce Department officials will join Members of Congress and the White House Science and Technology Policy Director in dedicating the new National Institute of Standards and Technology Advanced Measurement Laboratory (AML) on Monday, June 21, 2004. The $235 million, 49,843 square meter (536,507 square foot) research facility features stringent environmental controls on air quality, temperature, vibration and humidity. The new facility allows NIST to provide the sophisticated measurements and standards needed by U.S. industry and the scientific community in nanotechnology, semiconductors, biotechnology, advanced materials, quantum computing and advanced manufacturing.
