President Bush, Commerce Secretary Evans to Present 2003 Baldrige Awards to
Four Businesses, Two Hospitals, One School District
Represent Largest Number of Award Recipients Ever

President George W. Bush will join Commerce Secretary Don Evans in presenting seven U.S. organizations with the 2003 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest honor for performance excellence and quality achievement. This is the largest number of Baldrige Award recipients since the program started in 1988 and the first time that recipients were named in all five Baldrige Award categories.

The 2003 Baldrige Award winners (Baldrige Award categories in parentheses) are: Medrad, Inc., Indianola, Pa. (manufacturing); Boeing Aerospace Support, St. Louis, Mo. (service); Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation U.S., Nashville, Tenn. (service); Stoner, Inc., Quarryville, Pa. (small business); Community Consolidated School District 15, Palatine, Ill. (education); Baptist Hospital Inc. Pensacola, Fla. (health care); and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Kansas City, Mo. (health care).

CHECK-IN: News media must pre-register by contacting Jan Kosko or Michael Newman (see information above) by 4:30 p.m., March 8. News media check in on March 9 starts at 8:30 a.m. EST and ends at 9:30 a.m. EST at the registration table on the first floor near the Grand Ballroom. News media must show a national media identification badge with photo or a photo ID with a business card to gain admission to the ceremony. TV cameras must be preset in the Arlington Ballroom between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
