Feb. 7 Briefing on President’s Proposed FY 2001 Budget for Department of Commerce’s Technology Administration 
 

Deputy Under Secretary for Technology Gary Bachula and National Institute of Standards and Technology Deputy Director Karen Brown will discuss the President's proposed fiscal year 2001 budget for the Department of Commerce’s Technology Administration at a media briefing on Monday, Feb. 7, 2000. The briefing is tentatively scheduled for 1:45 p.m. in Room 4830 of the Commerce Department, 14th St. and Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.

Reporters planning to attend should call or e-mail the contact listed above on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, to confirm the time of the following Monday’s briefing.

The Technology Administration includes the Office of the Under Secretary for Technology, Office of Technology Policy, NIST and the National Technical Information Service.

A budget news release, a detailed FY 2001 budget summary, supplemental fact sheets, a budget process flowchart, the FY 2000 budget process history and other relevant materials will be available for reporters at the TA briefing.

All of these materials will be available on the World Wide Web at www.ta.doc.gov following the Office of Management and Budget’s official release of the President’s proposed budget in the morning of Feb. 7.

Additionally at the same web site, reporters and others may sign up online for comprehensive TA FY 2001 budget updates from NIST throughout the appropriations legislative process.
