Hotel On Thursday, March 7, 2002, President George W. Bush and Commerce Secretary Don Evans are scheduled to present the 2001 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest honor for performance excellence and quality achievement, to five U.S. organizations, including the first Baldrige Award winners in education. Education Secretary Rod Paige is expected to participate in the ceremony. Clarke American Checks Inc., San Antonio, Texas; Pal's Sudden Service, Kingsport, Tenn.; Chugach School District, Anchorage, Alaska; Pearl River School District, Pearl River, N.Y.; and University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, Wis., will receive the award. About 250 people from the five award organizations will be among those in the audience. A 17-year-old student will accept the Baldrige Award on behalf of Chugach School District. CHECK-IN: Doors to the ceremony open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 10:00 a.m. Check in for news media starts at 8:30 and ends at 9:50 a.m. at the registration table on the Terrace Level. News media must show a badge with photo or a photo ID with a business card to gain admission to the ceremony.
