Science News That's Just a Click Away

EurekAlert! is an ongoing, Web-based public service project of the nonprofit American Association for the Advancement of Science. The EurekAlert! service seeks to provide a cost-effective, timely, and secure way to disseminate scientific information to journalists and the public. Since 1996, the world's leading universities, research hospitals, government labs, and peer-reviewed journals have posted thousands of press releases on the site. EurekAlert! serves science, medical, and technology reporters; policy-makers; and the science-attentive public by providing them with access to the most current science research news.

One of the highlights of EurekAlert! is a secure area for embargoed news releases that is available only to registered reporters. Providing journalists with advance access to research news allows them to cover a story in greater depth and present a more thoroughly researched article to the public. All releases submitted to the site are made available to the public once their embargo dates have passed. EurekAlert! has revolutionized the way in which science news is communicated.

EurekAlert! Facts

  • More than 25,000 press releases have been posted to the site
  • Nearly 30 new press releases are posted daily
