Transient flow facility for vehicle refueling
The Transient Flow Facility. A set of four, 40 Liter, high pressure cylinders are the source of high-pressure helium or nitrogen during a simulated vehicle refueling. Transient flows through the meter under test and a reference flow meter (e.g. 1 mm diameter critical nozzle) are generated by sequentially opening valves on high-pressure cylinders. The facility is used with both nitrogen and helium to study gas species effects for various flow meters. A diaphragm compressor recharges the high pressure cylinders to 42 MPa in approximately 90 minutes..
