Radiance temperature calibration laboratory

Radiance Temperature Calibration Laboratory is used for the calibration of radiation thermometers, tungsten-strip lamps and heat flux gauges.

Specifications/Capabilities

A radiation thermometer centered at 655.3 nm is calibrated using the detector-based temperature of a gold freezing temperature blackbody. The temperature scale is maintained using a vacuum strip lamp, and the temperature of a 25.4 mm diameter variable-temperature blackbody (VTBB) is assigned by comparisons using the radiation thermometer. This high emissivity (> 0.9985) VTBB is also used for heat flux gauge calibrations.
