Research Interests:

  • Micro- and nano-scale thin film lubricants based on polymer networks that exhibit extremely low friction properties as a result of low interfacial shear stresses. Integrating these films into potential applications in nanoscale material and medical fields.
  • Evaluation of polymeric drag reduction in dilute and high concentrated solutions. Determination of the effects in multi-solvent flow and the resulting rate of mechanical degradation. Integration of high concentrated polymeric fluids into dilute solutions and fluidic flow development.
  • Investigation into flow over superhydrophobic surfaces and the fluid-vapor-solid interactions at the surface. Characterization of both slip and drag reduction in the fluid using both microfluidic experimentation and rheometry.

Honors and Awards:

  • National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at NIST, 2010.
  • NSF GK-12 Fellowship, Cornell University, 2009-2010.
