Matthew L. Becker, Ph.D.

The current research efforts of my group are centered on the development of functional materials and methods for imaging-based characterization of molecular signatures which occur during cellular proliferation, differentiation and internalization. Specifically, we are developing imaging based methods to characterize cells and tissues in minimally or non- invasive formats which maintain high spatial and temporal resolution.

The core activities of this effort include the development of materials which influence or direct cell function, high specificity probes which identify specific signaling events and quantitative imaging methods which capture cell responses and response heterogeneity.

My group also investigates the synthesis and characterization of peptide functionalized polymers, nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes and how these materials influence normal biological processes.
