Diana N. Zeiger, Ph.D.

After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in the Writing Seminars from the Johns Hopkins University, Diana Zeiger worked for several years as a writer and editor. She later obtained a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, during which time she pursued undergraduate research in the field of theoretical and quantum chemistry. She also received Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships at NIST in 1999, 2000, and 2001. In 2007, Diana was awarded a Ph.D. in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences from the University of California – San Francisco.

My research interests include dental materials and biomineralization. Current investigations involve using X-ray microcomputed tomography to evaluate the shrinkage and potential microleakage of dental composites that have been placed in extracted teeth. Additional studies include investigating adhesion of caries-causing bacteria (Streptococcus mutans) to dental polymers of various compositions.
