Chris A. Michaels has been a Research Chemist in the Surface and Microanalysis Science Division of the Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory at NIST since 1997. His current research efforts are focused on the development of novel spectroscopic imaging techniques for high spatial resolution chemical imaging. These techniques include coherent Raman microscopy, superresolution microscopy using solid immersion optics, and confocal Raman microscopy. He is also exploring the use of IR supercontinuum light sources for applications in microscopy and spectroscopy. He was awarded the CSTL Technical Achievement Award and the Samuel Wesley Stratton Award for his work on IR near-field microscopy.
