Justin Gorham

Justin M. Gorham is a Research Chemist in the Materials Measurement Science Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.  His area of expertise is in the surface chemical analysis of nanostructures, nanomaterials and thin films.  He received his PhD on this subject from Johns Hopkins University in chemistry in 2008. Currently, Dr. Gorham's research is focused on the implications of environmental transformations including the following:

  • Transformations of nanoparticle suspensions during their shelf life and how storage conditions, both synthetic and environmental, may impact their integrity
  • Physico-chemical stability of nanoparticles (silver, silica, CNTs) in polymeric composites
  • Development of methodologies for employing surface chemical techniques, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), for complex metrological challenges.
