Dr. Jacobsen works at NIST as a Visiting Senior Research Scientist from the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics as the University of Maryland. Her research interests include quantifying uncertainties in estimates of molecular properties provided by computational quantum chemistry models. For example, Dr. Jacobsen is currently determining the uncertainties in computed values of infrared intensities for molecular vibrations, with eventual applications to global warming. Dr. Jacobsen’s secondary research focus involves comparing the reliability of harmonic and anharmonic methods for calculating molecular vibrational frequencies, with emphasis on situations where the frequencies are scaled. |
