Jason J. Gorman is a Mechanical Engineer in the Intelligent Systems Division at NIST. He received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University in 1994, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, in 2000 and 2002, respectively. In 1997, he was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Traineeship for his research on the robust nonlinear control of flexible structures. Upon graduating, he was awarded a National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Associateship at NIST. Since 2008, Jason has been a staff member in the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory where he leads a project on Nanorobotics Science and Metrology and works on other projects related to MEMS nanopositioning, optical trapping, and microscale scanning probe instruments. His research interests include the control of micro/nanosystems; nanorobotics; precision MEMS/NEMS; nanoscale displacement and force metrology; robust and nonlinear control; stochastic processes; and nanoinstrumentation. |
