Phantoms and the Problem of Quantification in Medical Computed Tomography (CT)

Abstract

Medical CT may be made more useful by increasing the quantification. Phantoms have shown that volumetric analysis may be ten times more precise than the standard RECIST metric. Phantoms have a big role to play defining uncertainty and providing corrections to permit intercomparison of results between different CT machines.
