Abstract: We study the separate and combined effects of static and dynamic multipath channels created in a reverberation chamber on bit-error-rate measurements of digitally modulated signals. We demonstrate measurement methods to identify individually both static and dynamic sources of irreducible bit error rate and discuss why the speed of the mode-stirring paddle impacts the level of irreducible bit error rate for certain modulated-signal data rates and bandwidths. We show that the effect of frequency selectivity of the channel on bit error rate can impact the definition of coherence bandwidth for applications involving multipath propagation channels for digitally modulated signals.
