| Title: | PEG-HYDROGELS: SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION, AND CELL ENCAPSULATION |
| Published: | September 15, 2009 |
| Abstract: | A simple reaction to prepare controlled molecular mass (MM) poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylates (PEGDMs) of high purity and low polydispersity is outlined. PEGDMs were photo-polymerized to form hydrogels with and without bioactive moieties. The structure and mechanical properties were studied using small angle neutron scattering (SANS) and compression testing, respectively, which provided the foundation for subsequent cell response investigation. The use of PEGDM hydrogels as model scaffolds for bone and cartilage regeneration is described. |
